Flag Making for Neurodiversity Celebration Week
Identity Flags: A creative identity workshop for neurodivergent adults
This 2 hour workshop supports neurodivergent adults to explore identity and self-expression through accessible, hands-on making.
Delivered in partnership with RAWD at Strawberry Field during Neurodiversity Celebration Week, the session invited participants to reflect on their interests, strengths and personal experiences of neurodiversity.
Using fabric scraps and mixed media materials, participants designed and created their own personal flags. Each flag acted as a visual representation of identity, celebrating individuality, pride and belonging.
The workshop followed a clear, supported structure including discussion, material exploration, design development and making. Activities were designed to be accessible through tactile materials and step-by-step guidance, enabling participants to engage in ways that suited them.
The session culminated in a shared “flag parade”, where participants presented their work in a collective celebration across the site.
Participants left with a finished artwork and a strengthened sense of pride in their identity and self-expression.
